From Fire — Clementine and Sage

Oh, Mother Nature - she is the queen of equilibrium, matching light with dark, peace with chaos. And water - she matches water with fire.

This past week has been a whirlwind of worry as the hills north and east of our little town have burned. If you watch the news then you already know it was the perfect storm of low humidity, high winds, and an abundance of dry fuel (as a result of last year's wet winter and this long hot summer) that encouraged the flames to spread. So many people here are hurting. So many animals lost and displaced. And the earth - scorched and smoking - is on my mind too.

But I'm holding fast to the idea that Nature will keep her promise - there will be life and hope in these places again.
