Chorus

Have you ever heard a pack of coyotes howl?

It’s something I’ve only experienced a handful of times in my life, but there’s just something about it…something haunting. Something magical. Always, though, I find that I am in love with one thing in particular : that each coyote has a unique voice.

Sometimes, the pack is harmonious -  the members blending many voices into one. A lot of times, though, it’s just a whole bunch of yipping and yowling, discordant notes floating on the night air. But whether the voices are shrill or melodious, loud or soft, hitting many notes or lingering on just one - they simply sing, pouring their songs out into the world for anyone to hear. No hesitation, no self-consciousness, no trying to fit in.

So, with this idea in mind, I sat down with some leather. Did some tooling, added some paint. Stitched in Pendleton wool, riveted straps and a magnetic clasp, and lined the whole creation with polka-dot canvas. In thinking about what it means to be genuine, to sing a song from my heart just for the heck of it, I made a bag.
