Wayfinder

Look up the word
“Wayfinder” in a dictionary.

Definition one is pure logic:
“That which assists
One in navigating.”

Definition two is pure heart:
“One who IS
Navigating.”

And isn’t that just beautiful?
The idea that we have so many
Things in this life, from
Compasses to guiding stars,
To get us going in the right direction,
But, at the end of the day
(Or, perhaps, at the BEGINNING),
We’ve also got our own
Wild selves.

For what better tools can exist than
Our own intuition,
Our own knowledge of self,
Our own gut instinct,
When it comes to
A journey of the soul?

We’re all wayfinders,
Whether we realize it or not,
Making our way through
And on and
Towards.

Anymore, it never really feels like a new year is THE new year until I’ve stamped my maker’s mark on a fresh idea and accidentally melted something because my smithing skills got rusty over the holidays. Last week, I accomplished the first of those things, managed to miraculously avoid the second, and spent my first bench hours of 2022 crafting this handful of Wayfinder rings.

I’ve wanted to play with a compass rose design for years and years, but never felt the pull to bring it into the tangible world until reading that definition. And then it was the only thing I COULD make. The going was slow, but these beauties were worth it.

These rings are hefty. They are solid. The compass design will remind you of all the navigational tools at your fingertips, as you embark on new adventures in the coming months, while the sparkle of a 2mm diamond (set in 14k gold) asks you to remember that you’re at the center of your own story - and you’ve already got everything you need.

They will best fit sizes 6, 7, 7.5, 8, and 9 and will be available this Wednesday, January 12th, when I reopen the shop for my anniversary sale (all remaining artwork from last year - jewelry, stickers, paintings, and bandanas will be marked down then as well). If you’re on the mailing list, I’ll be sending an email your way with exact details on the time etc., otherwise just keep an eye on Instagram - I’ll make a post as soon as the shop opens.
